Constelaçoes

Constellation:

  • an arrangement of parts or elements;
  • the outcome depends on the configuration of influences at the time;
  • a group of ideas felt to be related

The works here presented were made during a residency in the Frans Masereel Centrum in Kasterlee (B) in 2010. Until now they were barely presented in any show. Out of my vast collection of atlases and maps I deliberately chose abstract elements that refer to currents, directions, density, accretion, … . Dots, arrows, grids and concentric circles were screen printed on blank paper, layer upon layer. Until each of them gained it’s specific character and new constellations were created. Some of which have quiet much in common, one with the other, but still differ due to this specific way of working.
