During the masterclass : the glass heap challenge, I also created flat glass work : which I named : floe or pieces of ice . These objects consist each out of different types of broken glass. Old glasses, bottles, bowls, … where smashed into bigger and smaller pieces or crushed into tiny little elements. With these pieces I made different compositions. They were melted together in the kiln onto a 850° temperature. One can see very nice details (for example ‘afl’ which refers to the typical glass for the Affligem beer …) when holding the elements to the light.
